New Opportunities for Wellness (NOW) is community healing initiative for neighborhoods that have experienced high rates of violence. Healing must extend beyond those hit by the bullets to include the communities in which the bullets are fired. NOW nurtures community members' power to create spaces of healing and well-being in those neighborhoods. In partnership with groups like the Black Healers Collective and Freedom Community Center, we are recruiting and training community healers on wellness and healing techniques to recover from their own trauma and respond to their neighbors. In 2023, NOW launched in Walnut Park East, Walnut Park West, and Baden. In 2024, the neighborhoods of focus are O'Fallon, College Hill, and Fairground. The plan is to launch NOW in St. Louis County in 2024.
